Karen R. Hurd

Karen is the founder and head of Community Arts. She directs most of the plays produced by this entity. She is a writer of historical fiction, religious plays, nutritional books, and articles. Karen is a weekly columnist for the Augusta Area Times/Tri-County News Osseo, Wisconsin, writing a popular column entitled "On the Heels of the Past". She has been writing for this paper for over nine years.

In the past ten years Karen has written nine historical musicals (The Stagecoach Stop, From Prussia We Come, The Mysterious Robbery, Stockyard Tuesdays, Heart of Frost, Sea of Change, The Pronto Drive-In, The Threshing, and The Lumber Baron); seven full length Passion of Christ dramas (From the Cradle to the Cross, The Lion and the Lamb, The Wisdom of the Savior, The Prophets Foretold, The Word Became Flesh, He Did This for Me, and The Angels Wept) as well as several shorter Passion of Christ scripts.

Karen has published two books -- And They Said it Wasn't Possible and The Bean Queen's Cookbook. She is currently finishing her third nutritional book entitled The Cowboy Diet, and is working at publishing her first full-length historical fiction book featuring the original settlers of the Augusta, Wisconsin area.

Karen is a full-time nutritionist who resides in Fall Creek, Wisconsin, but spends her spare time writing and directing drama and music. She is also the music and worship leader for Faith Evangelical Free Church in Fall Creek, Wisconsin.
