The Stagecoach Stop
Episode I of Fall Creek History

Written and Arranged by Karen Hurd

Based on the true-life story of Simon Randall, The Stagecoach Stop details Simon's life and character, as well as his untimely death. A lumberman, mill owner, and farmer, Simon Randall owned and operated the stagecoach stop in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. This musical shows the Randall family and their influence in the formation of the town of Fall Creek, but more than that gives playgoers the chance to contemplate what being of nobel charater can look like. We see that for Simon Randall, his character came as the grace of God covered his shortcomings.

Performance Rights and VHS tapes have been made available for this production through Scene and Hurd Productions. For information about purchasing the performance rights, to view a script sample, or to order a VHS tape, please Contact Us.

There are some interesting facts about the premier production of The Stage Coach Stop. The benches that were used in this production were actually made from a 125 year old white cedar tree that was located on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and White Street in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. Simon Randall most likely walked past that tree many times in his life. The actual portraits of Simon and his wife Louisa were part of the set. Also, a single yoke oxen harness that was used as a prop in the barn scene dated back to 1860.

The proceeds from the production of The Stagecoach Stop benefited WunderHaven, a non-profit retirement housing complex in Fall Creek. This benefit went into aiding WunderHaven build and furthur develop programs offered for its residents.
